Alcohol and Substance Abuse

The Alcohol and Substance Misuse project is funded by the Emigrant Support Programme and has recently been commissioned by Birmingham's Drug and Alcohol Action Team to provide a Community Outreach/Tier 2 alcohol service for South Birmingham. We are working in partnership with Aquarius and Sifa-Fireside to identify and support people with Alcohol issues or those who seek advice to support healthier living.

The team provide outreached tier 2 alcohol interventions in line with the city’s alcohol delivery plan. Our service consists of short term (up to 6 Sessions ) interventions.

These interventions will support hazardous and harmful drinkers to address alcohol misuse issues. The service will also provide care pathways for those requiring more prolonged treatment provision from tier 3 / 4 services  We also provide awareness and training for staff in communities to support their clients and work together to address alcohol related community issues. The services will be accessed via both open access and more defined referral routes, including the Birmingham DAAT single point of contact.

STAFF FROM THE ALCOHOL PROJECT PROVIDED INFORMATION IN SAFE DRINKING TO 1500 MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC DURING ALCOHOL AWARENESS WEEK
