The Alcohol & Substance Misuse Project is funded by Birmingham City Council and by the Irish Government’s DION fund.
The aim of the project is to engage with clients who are suffering from alcohol or drug misuse problems and to assist them to safely reduce their intake or to become abstinent.
For those who do not wish to do either, they can be helped to organise their lives better despite the consequences.
In addition to the client, we also offer support to their relatives.
Unfortunately alcohol or drug addiction can be the result of many factors and one of these is an underlying mental health issue, with high rates of schizophrenia and depression, sometimes undiagnosed due to the masking effects of alcohol or drugs
Through referring and supporting clients to access alcohol/drug services the Alcohol & Substance Misuse Team have achieved positive outcomes.
